After a dry weekend, rain chances return for Monday. A cold front, currently stretched across the Plains, will slowly slide eastward towards the Ohio Valley. Ahead of this front, warm and moist air will continue to flow into the area, allowing for the atmosphere to become fairly unstable. Both the NAM and GFS (two major forecast models) show scattered showers/t-storms developing during the morning hours. The clouds associated with that rain (and the rain itself) will help keep high temperatures down (lower 80s area-wide…upper 80s or so would have been likely with NO rain/clouds). Strong storms are likely, with a couple possibly pulsing to severe levels. The biggest threat, however, will be heavy rain (given the high moisture values in place). The showers/t-storms will decrease in intensity/coverage Monday night with the loss of daytime heating. Stay with Cincy Forecast for the very latest on the storm/heavy rain threat!
